Scotland’s Climate Week 2024

Earlier this year, we were excited to receive funding from the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund to support our Climate Chat project. The project focused on engaging with communities of interest and equalities groups in meaningful discussions and activities around climate action.

Through these engagement activities, we not only supported marginalised communities in understanding and contributing to climate solutions, but also built lasting relationships and increased awareness around community-led climate action.

The project has left a huge legacy not only in the communities we support, but also within our staff team and organisation.

Legacy within our team

Our team members have made various changes in their homes and personal lives since Climate Chat.

  • Some have switched to Smol cleaning products, using laundry eggs and reusable period products and face cleansing pads.
  • Some have started growing more in their gardens and windowsills and some have started to use community gardens to access locally grown fresh produce.
  • Some have bought electric blankets, draught excluders, motion sensor lights and air fryers or slow cookers to cut down their energy consumption.

Legacy within our organisation

We work across the length and breadth of Scotland and have staff, Board and members who live in the Highlands and Islands right down to the Borders.

  • Over the last six months we have changed the way we meet, moving our in-person meetings to different locations around the central belt and have been trialing more online meetings to reduce our carbon emissions.
  • We use public transport first, then think about car sharing to ensure we are travelling in the most efficient and green way.
  • Our team is committed to making climate-conscious decisions, embedding sustainable practices into our projects and the way we work. When we meet, we use wooden cutlery and recyclable crockery, and we share and reuse materials amongst the team.

The Climate Chat project has left a strong legacy, and we look forward to continuing this journey of positive change—both within our own practices and in the communities we support.
