We’re excited about the ongoing development of our Rural Wisdom project which is working across Scotland and Wales to make rural areas work better for everyone as we get older.
Last month, we held a ‘Rural Wisdom Get-Together’ in Scotland – a day bringing people who are interested in this work together to meet and share thoughts & ideas, giving us inspiration and action points for how we should progress.
This was the first of a series of similar get-togethers which will be held in different locations across Scotland over the next year or so. The next one is set to take place in the Borders at the end of August. Watch this space for more news…
We hope these Get-Togethers can help build a nation-wide network to share ideas, enthusiasm and inspiration about age-friendly communities. This will also provide a place to share any challenges or issues and work together to overcome these. If you are interested in our future events, or would like to host one in your area, please get in touch with Ruth: ruth@otbds.org
Over 20 people came together to this first event in Perth on 9th May (many thanks to PKAVS for hosting). We heard about local examples from East Renfrewshire and chatted about what works well, what the challenges are and what we can do to make things better. Read a summary of the key points which came out of the discussions.
