Zero Carbon Moray Community Energy and Climate Fair

For the second year running, Zero Carbon Moray held a Community Energy and Climate Fair in Elgin Town Hall, Moray.

There were 14 stalls including Outside the Box, Moray Council, REAP, UHI, Cairngorms Connect, Huntly Youth Climate Activists and tsiMoray. There were Speakers from Moray Council’s Community Wealth Building Team, Community Energy Moray and Local Energy Scotland.

Councillors including Draeyk Van Der Horn, Neil Cameron, John Cowe and Marc Mcrae also joined on the day. The event was well attended by the public, justifying the organisers’ feeling that these events need to be held when people can come.

This year the Outside the Box team attended and had a stall.

As well as raising awareness, Zero Carbon Moray was using the event to highlight the fact that they are looking for land to build community solar farms. This would be a start to generate affordable energy and combat the current volatile energy market and fuel poverty.

They will be visiting small communities over the next six months to hear from them and see what energy solutions might look like for them. The first one was on 10th of June at Dufftown Farmer’s Market. You can find out where they’ll be next on their Facebook page
