It can be difficult to talk about mental health at home, especially when you’re a young person and are worried about how the adults in your life might react. That’s why we love the ‘Talking to Adults About Mental Health’  project from Birchwood Highland, which talked to young people to find out how they would like the adults in their life to support them with their mental health.

Together they developed a leaflet which explains some of the things that can be difficult about talking about your mental health, and things that can be helpful. The leaflet is informative and easy to read, as well as being a great example of co-production. You can find out more about the project and read the leaflet on the Birchwood Highland website.

We are currently developing some guides for parents and teenagers who are affected by mental health- we’d love to know what you find useful or difficult- what helps you cope? How could other people help support you? If there’s anything you’d like to share, please email ciara@otbds.org or tweet us at @OtBcommunities.
