Spring Sessions with Moments of Freedom
Over the last few months the women of Moments of Freedom have been focussing on wellbeing activities during, and outwith, their group sessions. The group have taken ownership of 4 garden beds in the Centre 81 community garden and have planted a variety of flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables – with a mixture of Scottish and Syrian seeds!

Last week the group welcomed Lauren from Herbal Homestead for an aromatherapy workshop making scented wooden jewellery and air fresheners. They learned how to finger knit and have made a beautiful wall hanging that will be used at their community events.

In April the women took part in a private yoga session with Lou. The women shared that their lives are often too busy for them to take time for themselves to do exercise. It was just what they needed after the spring school holidays. In March the women made stained glass Eid decorations and even fit in being interviewed by BBC Alba for a documentary on the lives of Syrian New Scots!

Looking forward, the women wish to focus on improving their skills. After passing their REHIS Food Hygiene back in March, they will soon be completing Health and Safety and Interview Skills training courses.
