Moments of Freedom community coffee afternoon

The women of Moments of Freedom were delighted to host a community coffee afternoon on Tuesday 20 June in the amazing Centre81, Clydebank. This was also coincidentally World Refugee Day!

The women invited local elected members, council representatives, community members and representatives from other Scottish organisations.

Around 60 people came together to chat over a variety of traditional Syrian drinks, including the women’s famous coffee. Guests were asked to decorate fabric squares with their messages or feelings of Hope – the theme of this year’s Refugee Festival.

It was a lovely afternoon full of good conversation, laughs and friendship. The women made new connections with other New Scot women from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Kurdistan and Uzbekistan who are now living across Glasgow and as far away as Ayrshire.

Thank to you to everyone that attended to support the women and find out more about their work in Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire, the feedback has been fantastic.

Keep an eye on our social media over the coming months for updates on what the women do with the fabric squares!
