Time has whizzed by since the snows earlier in the year and we have been busy meeting up with people across the Borders.
Some highlights include:
We did a presentation to Galashiels Rotary Club on new developments with our Happiness Habits Borders project.
We have been working with a group in Kelso building on the Making Connections course that ran last year. The programme included cooking, kurling and confidence building.
We attended the Carers Conference in June and ran a Happiness Habits Café and Kurling taster session as part of the event with Diane Davis Bailing leading a very popular session on body language and confidence building.
We spread the word at the Ability Borders roadshows in Kelso, Duns, Eyemouth, Hawick, Galashiels and Peebles.
We attended the Older Peoples Get together in Duns and BAVS Bacon Butty Blether at Cockburnspath.
We organised and delivered a Cook Out in Eyemouth in partnership with Food Buddies and Healthy Living Network volunteers with support from Berwickshire Housing Association and Abundant Borders.
We got together with a local author who delivered a highly entertaining and fascinating session on her memoirs to a group in East Berwickshire and organised a “What’s Next?” session. We are now supporting the group with their plans to move forward.
We are organising activities in partnership with CL and D in a local primary school -watch this space for an update…!
We have been meeting with lots of groups and individuals about potential future work over the coming months.
We haven’t been neglecting our professional development either with visits to East Renfrewshire to find out about the exciting work that is happening there and are looking at replicating some of it in the Borders. We have been linking with our colleagues in Angus to attend the Older People’s Hub conversation café and witnessed the great work that is being developed in the area.
