About the project
Families impacted by criminal justice system – exploring peer support with families with a loved one in prison in Glasgow
Outside the Box is exploring ways to develop informal activity-based peer support for families with experience of a loved one in prison.
This project builds upon the ‘Building Constructive Connections’ research with families impacted by the justice system, carried out by the Universities of Salford and Huddersfield.
The aim of the work is to support and encourage:
- Different activities and supports for families
- Ways to increase social connections and informal support networks for families
- Ways to improve positive mental health and wellbeing
We will share the things we have learnt with people and organisations across Scotland by:
- Resourcing and sharing
- Working with organisations that are doing complementary work
- Producing hints and tips with practical advice to support and help people in parenting roles
This work is funded by Glasgow and Greater Clyde NHS.
We will be working with local partners.
