Brechin Community Singing Group began as taster sessions in February following feedback gained from attending different community events during Autumn 2017. The group is open to anybody who wants to sing. All are welcome and there are no auditions! The purpose of the group was to bring together local people who enjoy singing and share their passion for music, from all genres, to create a sense of social connections and shared endeavour.

At our last session, with a collection of 25 songs collated over the weeks ranging from Scottish Folk, Traditional, Modern and Musicals, we held a ‘lucky dip’ of songs which kept our piano player John and violin player Margaret on their toes! We even had one couple celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary where the whole group sang a hearty rendition of “Congratulations”.

Now that the taster sessions are over, the Community Singing Group overwhelmingly stated they will like to continue and Shona, the Rural Wisdom Development Worker for North Angus is working on sourcing alternative venues with community contacts. The Brechin Community Singing Group are holding their next meeting on Thursday 19th April, 2pm at the Gardner Memorial Church and all are welcome to come along and find out more.
