About the project

Digital Inclusion is about ensuring that as many people as possible have access to and skills to use things like smart phones, tablets and computers, social media and the internet so they can participate and benefit in the new technology.
Some groups of people, such as older people and people with poor mental health, tend to have less access to the new technologies than other people.
This project has Scottish Government Funding.

Digital Inclusion and Mental Health

People with poor mental health tend to have less access to new technologies than other people.

Outside the Box worked with volunteers affected by mental health problems to find out what they saw as the benefits of having access to the internet and using it more. They told us about the wide range of things they use the internet for. We were also able to uncover some downsides to think about and ways to keep people safe online.

See below for our hints and tips on Digital Inclusion and Mental Health.

Digital Inclusion and Older People

Outside the Box worked with older people and organisations run by older people to find out what works best for encouraging and supporting older people get the most from new digital technology like smart phones, tablets, computers and the internet.
