As of today we are proud to say that we are officially a Living Wage employer. Since Outside the Box was formed, back in 2004, we have always paid the living wage but it is great to now have the accreditation to publicly show how important it is that employees are paid a fair wage for the work they do. Unlike the government’s ‘national living wage’, which was not calculated according to what employees and their families need to live, the Living Wage is higher because it is independently calculated based on what people need to get by.

Being a member of the Living Wage foundation offers employers a way to take a stand to ensure their employees earn enough to maintain a good standard of living.  Many employers have said that since they began paying the Living Wage the quality of their staff’s work has increased too and staff are more likely to value their workplace. In this way, many employers benefit financially from paying the Living Wage.

For people who are paid the living wage, there is a sense that your employer values you and wants you to be able to have a good quality of life and many employees report more job satisfaction when they are paid the Living Wage.
