Food Buddies Quick Tips

Posted March 6th 2018 by Christine

Food Buddies is a way for people to encourage and support each other around food. We do this by developing practical help for older people, people living with dementia and other people who sometimes have problems around food. We are trying to make life easier for people by helping them to stay safe and continuing to shop, cook and enjoy food.

Over the winter our Food Buddies projects in both Borders and Falkirk have been working with older people, their friends and families to help them share their experiences around food to help other people.

Together we have developed 6 Quick Tips guides, Changes in Eating Habits, Encouraging Someone to Eat, Storing your Food Safely, Getting the Motivation to Cook, Preparing Food and Tips for People with Reduced Appetite. We have also pulled together some links to websites we found really useful whilst writing the guides.

We would really like to thank everyone who helped us develop the Quick Tips, we couldn’t have done it without them.

Further information about our Food Buddies projects can be found on our website.

If you have any ideas for future Quick Tips or would like copies please get in touch:

After hearing Anne's presentation at the ROSPA seminar yesterday, I couldn't wait to visit this site and print off the tips. I know they will be very useful for our staff who support older people in the community, and also for myself as carer for my mum. Thankyou for this invaluable resource.
