Fire Starter Fesitval

Posted February 7th 2018 by Louise

Last week saw the launch of 2018’s Fire Starter Festival, a two week event celebrating all the innovative ways we can transform our communities, organisations and ourselves.

We went along to the launch at Kelvingrove Museum an enjoyed hearing Nicola Sturgeon open the event. She talked about the need to be creative with resources and services and the need for communities and people to be part of the planning and ideas for how to do things. Something we, at Outside the Box, definitely agree with!

The speakers spoke at different places and what was different about this event was that we were given headphones for the other speakers so we could wander around the museum, see the exhibits and not disturb the other visitors. This worked really well – I found it easier to listen to people walking about rather than having to sit still.

The speakers and topics were excellent –  talking about young people, the challenges and supports and ways of making a difference, ending homelessness, mentoring young people and offering challenges.

We are looking forward to finding out how all the speakers’ topics develop and how fires are started across Scotland!
